Well Service for Fenton’s Lakes and Township Homes
Much of the City of Fenton is on municipal water, but many homes in Fenton Township and around Lake Fenton, Silver Lake and Lake Ponemah rely on private wells. The same goes for a lot of homes in Linden and nearby Tyrone Township.
Maglothin Well & Water Treatment is a family-owned well and water company based in Ortonville, serving Fenton and the rest of Oakland, Livingston, and southern Genesee counties. We repair and replace well pumps and pressure tanks, find the cause of low pressure, and set up treatment for iron, hardness and sulfur.
Well & Water Services in Fenton
Well pump repair & replacement
We test first, so you know whether it’s the pump, the wiring, the control box or a part up at the house before anything gets replaced.
Pressure tank replacement
Waterlogged, rusted or undersized tank? We install a properly sized tank so your pump isn’t short-cycling.
No water / low pressure
We troubleshoot pressure switches, controls, tanks and pumps to find the cause, not just the symptom.
Water testing
For peace of mind, a new baby, or a home sale. We collect the sample and explain the results.
Water treatment
Softeners, iron filters, sulfur treatment and reverse osmosis sized to what’s actually in your water.
New well drilling & replacement wells

Lake Homes, Seasonal Use and Updated Cottages
Around Fenton’s lakes, plenty of homes started as cottages and became year-round houses. Their well systems weren’t always upgraded along the way. A small tank sized for weekend use can short-cycle a pump hard once a family lives there full time.
If your pump clicks on and off constantly, your pressure swings in the shower, or your tank is older than you can remember, we’ll check whether it’s sized for how you use water today and install a properly sized tank if it isn’t.
Iron Filters and Softeners for Fenton Well Water
Orange stains in sinks and toilets, rust in the toilet tank, and white scale on fixtures are common complaints from Fenton-area homes on wells. Iron and hardness can also gum up pressure switches and water heaters over time.
A softener alone often can’t keep up with much iron. We test first, then set up the right equipment: an iron filter, a softener, or both, sized for your household and plumbed in cleanly. If there’s a sulfur smell too, see our sulfur and rotten egg smell page.

Fenton Well Pump & Water FAQ
Is Fenton on city water or wells?
Much of the City of Fenton is on municipal water, while many homes in Fenton Township, around the lakes, and in Linden are on private wells.
Will a water softener take care of iron?
A softener can handle small amounts of some types of iron, but higher iron levels usually need a dedicated iron filter, often paired with a softener. We test first so you don’t buy equipment that can’t keep up.
Why does my pump turn on and off so often?
That’s called short-cycling. It’s usually caused by a waterlogged or undersized pressure tank, or a pressure switch problem. Left alone, it wears out the pump early.
How does pricing work?
We diagnose the problem and give you upfront pricing before any work starts, so you know exactly what the repair will cost before we do anything.
Do you drill new wells in Fenton?
Yes. We’re a Michigan-registered well drilling contractor (#63-2667) and handle new and replacement wells when an existing well can’t be saved. See our well drilling page for more.
